THE PURPOSE BEHIND OUR WORK

The people who deliver care
should help shape it.

We are Minnesota Physicians for Reform, a grassroots coalition of physicians and healthcare professionals working toward a healthcare system that serves patients and supports those who care for them.

Our shared experience crosses specialties, practice settings, and communities. We turn that experience into practical conversations about quality, access, and the future of healthcare in Minnesota.

Electronic prior authorization

A confirmed change to the way prior authorization information and requests can be exchanged.

Explore the upcoming change

Beginning January 1, 2027, for health benefit plans offered, sold, issued, or renewed on or after that date, utilization review organizations, health plan companies, and claims administrators must maintain a prior authorization API for healthcare services, excluding prescription drugs and medications.

The API must help providers identify authorization and documentation requirements and exchange requests and determinations through electronic health records or practice management systems.

YOUR EXPERIENCE IS EXPERTISE

You don’t need to be a policy expert
to make a difference.

PHYSICIAN VOICES

Behind every policy,
there’s a day in practice.

The moments that shape care deserve a place in the conversation.

Illustrative practice perspectives. These are editorial scenarios, not individual testimonials.

THE EXAM ROOM

When the care plan meets a roadblock.

A physician recommends treatment. The patient is ready. The next step becomes a process instead of care.

THE COMMUNITY

Care close to home is worth protecting.

A local practice is more than an address. It is continuity, a familiar team, and a connection to a community.

THE WORKDAY

Bring the focus back to patients.

Every unnecessary administrative step competes with the time and attention that patients deserve.

MANY SPECIALTIES. ONE SHARED PURPOSE.

A stronger physician voice
starts with yours.

Join the conversation. Connect with colleagues. Help advance fair, reasonable, and sustainable healthcare policy for Minnesota.

A FEW HELPFUL ANSWERS

Getting involved,
made simple.

Contact our team
Who can get involved?

Physicians, healthcare professionals, trainees, and community supporters who share an interest in better healthcare policy are welcome to connect. Use the introduction form to ask about membership, volunteering, or advocacy opportunities.

Do I need legislative experience?

No. Start with an issue you understand from practice or your community. Our resource toolkit helps you find your legislators, follow bills, and prepare a clear message.

How is my information handled?

The draft tools do not collect form submissions or store your contact information. Forms prepare drafts in your browser. You choose whether to send them through your email application. Bookmarked resources are saved only in this browser and can be cleared from the Saved filter.

Can I share a patient story?

Share the system issue and its effect on care without patient names, exact dates, images, or other identifying information. The story tool prepares an inquiry, not permission to publish. Attribution and publication consent should be agreed with the organization separately.

Fair, Reasonable, and Sustainable.

Together, we can innovate, advocate and implement solutions. Building a better healthcare experience for all.
